L.E.S.S. (“Light Efficient Systems???) are the next generation of distributed lighting systems as a new alternative to today's LEDs or discharge tubes. Based on an active nanostructured fiber of the thickness of a human hair, the technology generates high quality light that exhibits both ultra-uniformity and brightness characteristics, surpassing today's quality standards. In addition, the thinness of our fiber offers a high integration potential and unlimited design potential.

Lighting systems dedicated to microscopy include brightfield and darkfield in two colour temperature. These products can be combined in one compact easy to install system compatible with any microscope.

 

High Angle Illumination for Surface and Relief Inspection

The BF-5400 (or BF-6500) lighting system is dedicated to microscopy. Thanks to an adapter ring, it can be interfaced to the objective of any microscope. BF stands for brightfield: in this configuration, an intense light directly strikes the sample at high angles, from a plane located above the sample, resulting in crisp, well defined images. 5400 and 6500 stand for the colour temperature of the lighting solution.

The unique uniformity and directionality of the LESS light allow an unprecedented inspection comfort with high contrast images, a negligible presence of stray light reflections and therefore a lower eye fatigue. They allow an optimum inspection of surfaces and reliefs, even at low light intensity. No heat is dispersed from the light source, an advantage to both the observed sample (in microbiology observations) and the user.

The colour temperature (5400 K or 6500 K) remains constant throughout the system longevity, independently of the number of hours the product is used. This consistency enables the users to maintain a stable quality standard over time.

Low angle illumination for edge and print inspection

Dedicated to the inspection of prints and edges, the high lighting directionality of the DF-5400 (or DF-6500) enables an exceptional detection efficiency. Samples can be inspected with naked eyes in a standalone configuration or under a microscope for a more detailed observation. The working distance is adjustable as the lighting angle can vary from zero degree to low angles. This feature allows a better observation of concave or convex samples.

DF stands for «darkfield»: in this configuration, a sharp light surrounds the sample from the side. This low angle illumination provides a unique and extremely high image contrast emphasizing the edges and prints of the sample. It gives key information on the manufacturing quality of metallic, glass or plastic components and enables the optimal detection of material deposits.

The uniformity and directionality of the LESS light are unique. These properties allow an unprecedented inspection comfort with a negligible presence of stray light reflections and a lower eye fatigue.
